Seeding & Soil Services

Is your lawn looking tired, dry, or fatigued? Sometimes, routine lawn care isn’t enough. Heavy foot, paw, and tire traffic can quickly take a toll on any grass, resulting in turf compaction, and thin and bare spots. Thatch is the build-up of dead grass blades and roots that form between the soil and the grass. Heavy thatch build-up can cause issues in turf resulting from heavy insect infestations, preventing nutrients, oxygen and water from entering the root zone.

At Royal Greens, we have the knowledge, equipment, and products to fix it. Our aeration, seeding, and soil services provide solutions to help your grass thrive. If you need to fill in bare spots, we can help restore green, healthy turf for your Central Maryland home.

Breathe Life Back Into Your Central Maryland Soil With Aeration

Breathe Life Back Into Your Central Maryland Soil With Aeration

Liquid Air8
Our highly innovative liquid aeration process is just the solution you need to bring life back into your soil. The liquid is applied through a hose. It interacts with the organic matter in your soil, creating a micro-fracture that alleviates the compaction and creates space within the soil for air, nutrients, and water to flow more freely. It is just as effective as traditional core aeration and more economical. It is especially suitable for small lawns where mechanical equipment can’t reach and on grounds that contain underground wiring, pet fencing, and irrigation systems. We can perform liquid aeration up to twice a year. For the best results, we recommend liquid aeration once in the spring and once in the fall.

Traditional Core Aeration
The traditional method of core aeration involves the use of mechanical equipment to punch holes into the ground. Like liquid aeration, these holes are designed to allow air, nutrients, and water to flow deeper into the soil, creating deeper and stronger roots. If core aeration is your chosen method, we recommend having it performed once a year in the fall. This service is not performed in the spring.

Royal Greens Slit and Power Seeding

Royal Greens Slit and Power Seeding

Just like the inside of your home, the outside of your home is unique as well. When you contact Royal Greens to schedule a service, we visit your property and assess which of our services will provide you with the best results. Spreading grass seed over your lawn will help facilitate growth but not with the type of results you are looking for. This is because much of the seed never permeate the soil. At Royal Greens, we use a machine that cuts grooves in the dirt every 1 to 1 1/2 inches ensuring the seeds are planted deep within.  Our slit seeding service is especially suitable for lawns with bare spots that need filling. Seeding treatments are best performed between August and October when soil temperatures are optimal.

We Perform Soil Testing to Determine the Best Course of Action

We Perform Soil Testing to Determine the Best Course of Action

Poor soil quality may be holding your grass back from its healthy potential. Poor quality soil affects water quality, increases the risk of flooding, and leads to poor lawn conditions. When you sign up as a Royal Green customer, we take a soil test on your property. We will take the information and, based upon the results, make recommendations on how we can improve it. These recommendations may include:

  • The increase in nutrient levels
  • Balancing pH levels
  • Building up organic matter

Based on our findings, we’ll develop a customized plan to correct your soil and get it to its healthiest levels. Programs often include one or several of the following:

Soil Restoration
A soil restoration involves aerating the lawn and spreading a shallow layer of compost over the top. We can perform our soil restoration services multiple times a year.

Soil Building
This service builds up the carbon and organic matter in your soil, both of which are beneficial adding in air, nutrients, and water flow. This not only creates a healthier lawn, but it is also a better choice for the environment and your health.

Healthy Start – A Combination of Aeration and Overseeding
We combine both aeration and overseeding to boost the health and strength of your lawn by getting those much-needed nutrients, water, and oxygen to your grassroots. After aeration, we perform a heavy overseeding. Performing aeration first will allow the new seeds to transpose deeper into the earth, ensuring better results.
